Jacqueline Piatigorsky and Gisela Gresser are photographed with Gresser's son in Emmen, The Netherlands, not far from the German border. Unlike Women’s Olympiads today, which are played on four boards with a reserve player, in Emmen each team had only two players and no reserves, so both players played every match.
