Zhang Chongqing was born in 1931 in Qingdao, Shandong Province. He graduated from the Department of Painting, Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1953. He is professor of the Central Academy of Drama, tutor of postgraduate students, member of the Chinese Artists Association, director of the Chinese Oil Painting Society, and member of the Art Committee of the Chinese Association of Old Professors. Relying on the magnificent rivers and mountains of China and the features of the characters, his works are based on the modern significance, paying attention to the highly sensitive aesthetic feeling as well as the relationship between man and nature.
