고종 29년(1892)에 '합천(合天)'이라는 존호를 올리면서 만든 명성황후(1851~1895)의 어보이다. 명성황후에게는 7번의 존호와 '명성(明成)'이라는 시호 1번이 가상되었다. 2번은 왕후나 황후로 각각 책봉된 것이다.
