광무 3년(1899)에 만든 문조비 신정왕후(1808~1890)를 '익황후(翼皇后)'로 추봉하면서 만든 어보이다. 대한제국 선포 이후 고종이 태조 · 장조 · 정조 · 순조 · 문조 등 5위의 왕과 왕비를 황제와 황후로 추봉하였는데 모두 직계이다.
