Stewardess Margarita McCormac perished in the sinking. Her initials are carved into the lid of her jewellery box.

She was born in India in 1881 but moved to Liverpool and in 1915 was living in Seaforth. Her body was never recovered and she is commemorated on the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Tower Hill, London.

Of the 22 stewardesses on board during the last voyage, only nine survived.
