The prototype of my works mainly originates in ‘Jiu Ge’ by Qu Yuan, one of the greatest ancient poets. His works, full of fairy tales and historical legends, with the artistic technique of extremely rich romance, express great poet’s Weltschmerz speech full of anger.
Jiu Ge, created on the basis of classicism, blends strong sense of contemporary and self-expression into classic feelings. By extracting the charming Goddess of the Mountain who cried “hunkering for your presence hurts me deeply” and “Eager expectancy makes my yearning heart ache” sighed by the protective Goddes Hsiang Fei of River Hsiang, ‘Jiu Ge’, with contemporary mood, borrows loose robe with wide sleeves and long flowing skirts prevailed in the Pre-Qin and Han period and forms the aesthetic image of both looking back Qin and Han dynasties and observing the present. Such entanglement between classical and contemporary emotions shows slightly difference in terms of strength degree between pieces and pieces, as well as between series and series of ‘Nine Odes’. The dynamic integration and powerful control of such multiple elements not only enriches the culture of ‘ Jiu Ge’, but also manages to reflect some more ambiguous cultural levels. In ‘Jiu Ge’, visions, built up in the impression of the classic and the wild background, fills the air with sentimental moods of contemporary spiritual circle.
