In 1932, Australian racing car driver Joan Richmond and English driver, Elsie Wisdom, won the 1000 Mile Race at Brooklands in England, becoming the first women to win an international motor race.
The inscription reads, ‘The First 1000 Miles Race organised by The Junior Car Club Brooklands June 3rd-4th 1932. Presented by Lord Wakefield of Hythe CBE to the Drivers of the Winning Car won by Mrs EM Wisdom and Miss Joan Richmond. Speed 84.41 MPH.’
