John Casper Branner Medallion

Bronze medallion with the effigy of John Casper Branner (1850-1922), an American geologist who came to Brazil in 1874 at the invitation of Charles Hartt. He published some seventy works on Brazil, including an elementary geology prepared (in Portuguese) with special reference to Brazilian students in 1905 and a summary of the geology of Brazil to accompany the geological map in 1919.
