This building is believed to be the second of Anderson's slave pens. Reports from legal proceedings show that he had a previous structure, described as "house called a barn … willfully and maliciously" destroyed by a slave named Peggy. Peggy was tried, found guilty, and sentenced to be hanged July 2, 1830. Anderson was paid $300.00 by the State of Kentucky for the loss of this slave.
