Journey Document to Yenching

This document contains the names of 404 places between Byeokje, Goyang in Joseon and Beijing, China that Korean royal envoys passed through on their journey to China, along with such details as the distance between each place, their other names and chief characteristics. During the Joseon Period (1392-1910), royal envoys were dispatched to China on hundreds of occasions, generally along the same routes. The distance between Hanyang (Seoul) and Beijing was about 1,230 km (=3,079 ri).
