Juan Walker

Juan Walker, a Kuku Yalanji man, owns and operates Walkabout Cultural Adventures. Born and bred in the area and an experienced guide, Juan provides his guests with a distinctive tour experience and educational insight into his cultural connection to the land.

Before establishing Walkabout Cultural Adventures, Juan worked and volunteered in national parks and was a tour guide in the Daintree area. Juan was also selected to represent Tourism Australia in France and was sponsored by the Commonwealth Secretariat to attend a youth employment summit in Egypt. Through these experiences and the contacts he made, Juan developed the confidence to start his own business.

The Kuku Yalanji people are the traditional owners of the rainforest areas in Tropical North Queensland. Here, they have been living in harmony with the environment for more than 50,000 years. and some tribes spread as far as Port Douglas, Cooktown, and Chillagoe.
