Julia de la Cal, LA PARABÓLICA

Julia de la Cal is the designer and basket maker behind LA PARABÓLICA, a studio-workshop in O Porriño, Pontevedra, that develops basketry projects. Her work combines design methodology and artisanal processes to create pieces with a contemporary vision and a high level of quality. From conception, design, development of plans, models, tools and prototypes to the final production of the pieces. Julia works with architectural teams to incorporate wickerwork into landscape and interior design projects. She also develops participative workshops and gives courses in traditional and contemporary basketry, participating in fairs and meetings in Galicia and abroad.

Her speciality is wickerwork with sticks and diagonal wickerwork with leaves, using methods from this craft and from other disciplines, although in the workshop she works with all kinds of materials to develop new projects.
