Beethoven had fallen in love like never before in his life - but since Julia came from a noble family, marriage was out of the question. So Beethoven remained a bachelor. Julia, however, married the composer Count von Gallenberg, with whom she went to Italy. When she returned to Vienna in 1822, she tried to get in touch with Beethoven - unfortunately without success.
