In 1985, John O'Neal organized a jazz funeral and reunion for the Free Southern Theater (FST). The event not only formally recognized the end of FST, but the birth of Junebug Productions. Junebug Productions continues today and has focused on local community-based arts programs, local and touring productions of theatrical works, as well as other community programs such as The Color Line Project. The project utilized the, "story circle method," to collect stories about the Civil Rights Movement.
