Justice Bell watch fob

1915

National Constitution Center

National Constitution Center
Philadelphia, PA, United States

This souvenir commemorates the 1915 Pennsylvania campaign, when a replica Liberty Bell traversed the state for women’s suffrage. The “Justice Bell” clapper, chained to its side, represented the silencing of women’s votes. When the 1915 measure failed, Pennsylvania women would have to wait another five years to vote—and hear the bell ring with victory.
