This particular crown dates back to the mid-19th century, when it was made during the reign of Sultan Muhammad Sulaiman (1845-1899), by local artisans and goldsmiths from the Kutai Kingdom in East Kalimantan. This crown as one of the most important symbols of the kingdom's existence, is shaped as brunjungan, and required almost two kilogram of gold for its creation.
