Two men, dressed in three quarter sleeved knee-length tunics also known as the Kuppia, perform Karnataka’s traditional Kodava dance. The men hold a shield in one hand, a whip-like rope that cuts through the air in motion in the other, their heads adorned with turbans. The horizon is very low in the photograph showing a vast expanse of cloud filled skies in the background while the men dance in a field of trimmed grass in the foreground. The back of this photograph has ‘Coorg: Kodava Dancer’ type written in black ink and a rectangle cut out from the sheet of a ruled notebook stuck on it.
