Korean jewel beetle

With its iridescent wings, which shine with different colours depending on the angle of light, it’s not often possible to say what colour this intriguing insect really is.
 
This beetle measures about 30~40mm. Its body is green with a strong metallic sheen. The  pronotum(a prominent plate-like structure that covers all or part of the thorax of some insects) and the elytra (one of the pair of hardened forewings of certain insects, as beetles, forming a protective covering for the posterior or flight wings)  have two very colourful red stripes. The body is golden-green, and the chest and center of the abdomen are golden-red. It has a pentagon-shaped head. These beetles live in woodland, and larvae mainly eat water pipes such as Hackberry. Adult insects appear from July to August. They are designated as Natural Monument No. 496. They live in central and southern parts of the Korean peninsula and Japan, China, and Taiwan.
