King Frederik 2´s Royal Tapestries - The Kronborg Drapes. The tapestries together with a matching tablecovering were earmarked for the great hall of Kronborg Castle. They were part of a suite of 43 tapestries with depictions of Danish kings. The tapestries were woven in Elsinore 1881-84 by waevers brought in from the Low Countries after the designs of artist Hans Knieper. Most of the tapestries were lost in the fire at Frederiksborg Castle in 1857. Of the 15 surviving, seven are now at Kronborg, whilte the others are at the National Museum.
