Kuru İncir Tatlısı (Dried Fig Dessert), prepared by cooking dried figs in syrup then served with clotted cream, is one of the desserts that made in the Ottoman Court Cuisine. In 'Turkish Cuisine' class at the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department, Yeditepe University, students do not just learn processing steps of making Kuru İncir Tatlısı, they also understand the story and culture behind it. In the case of Kuru İncir Tatlısı, the main ingredient of this dessert is a fruit. Figs were one of the fruits widely used in the Ottoman Court cuisine. It was consumed either fresh or dry. In the Ottoman Court Cuisine, fruits were also considered as valuable products as a gift. Foreign guests coming to the Palace were fascinated by the fruits that they have tasted.
