"Judah and his brothers returned to the city and came to the house of Joseph.
He said: "The man found in possession of the cup will be my slave: as for you, return in peace to your father."
Judas replied, "Your servant has vouched for the young man with my father: if I do not bring him back, I will be guilty towards my father all my life. Now let your servant remain instead of the boy as my lord's slave and the boy come back up there with his brothers! Because how could I go back to my father without having the boy with me? That I do not see evil would strike my father!"
