"The poem La Henriade has a controversial history. The young François-Marie Arouet, Voltaire, (1694-1778), a notable figure of the French Enlightenment, was imprisoned in the Bastille on May 16, 1717. In prison, he composed the first two songs of the epic poem La Henriade, whose early version it was called La Ligue (1723). The book was a critique of religious extremism incarnated in the character of Henry IV (1553-1610)". [MAGALHÃES, Pablo Antônio Iglesias. The manuscript of the Heriada: the trajectory of Voltaire's poem translated in Vila Rica dos Inconfidentes (1788 - 2016), Rev. Hist. (São Paulo ), n.180, a09720, 2021.
