The Aemilia Ars society was founded in 1898 in Bologna, Italy, to promote the decorative arts and provide work for the disadvantaged. Taking up the old models used since the 16th century, the company created many emblazoned laces. This would be the coat of arms of Margarita Gonzagua de Este, Duchess of Ferrara (double-tailed siren, crowned two-headed eagles, lions clashing, flowery vases and squirrels).
