Mounted on a board reinforced by latticework, this work has the characteristics typical of the period, in which the artist showed himself to be more influenced - although always to a moderate extent - by French Impressionist painting. This period was confined to the eighties. Furthermore, the period in which he painted these female figures with this type of dress, hairstyle and parasol, in a country landscape, was not before 1880.
The casual way in which the parasol is lying on the ground, with the handle pointing into the air, is like that in other pictures of this period by Miralles.
