The ceremonial knives known as “tumis” were used in rituals by the ancient inhabitants of Peru’s northern coast, in both animal and human sacrifices.
They were considered highly valuable objects, and they are shown being used by the gods of Lambayeque culture in the many depictions of combat scenes that have been discovered.
