In the midday heat, I did not recognize myself. There are versions of ourselves that are private and internal -- and there are versions of ourselves that are projected throughout the world as representations or delegates. I'm imagining that the delegate can take on greater responsibility -- greater roaming distance from its corporeal home -- so that our physical bodies can remain safe, protected, and unharmed.
