The neck of this jar is engraved in intaglio with the Chinese character inscription, “十石入瓮”, which means “a jar with the capacity of ten seok (mostly for grain)”. One seok (52 l) was the equivalent of 15 du, and one du (350 ml) consisted of ten seung. This is presumed to be a container for grains or water.
