Triana's riverbank was alive with the febrile energy of people repairing, readying, and loading the ships and preparing the fleets to set sail to foreign lands. No other port could compare to Seville, with its so-called Las Muelas Port, where ships have congregated for many centuries.
The convent of Los Remedios stands today, in front of the Gold Tower, in the neighborhood where the monastery of Santa María de la Victoria was built, frequented by Magellan himself. From this location, a fleet of five ships set sail, commanded by this Portuguese visionary who would change the history of the world.
