Before the advent of the internet, goal apps and live notifications, fans turned to trusty pocket guides to keep track of their season. The Wee Red Book, produced by Glasgow’s Evening Times newspaper, is the most famous and still going strong today after launching in 1928. Leng’s Football Handbook was one of its forerunners and contained a comprehensive list of all senior Scottish football matches for the campaign ahead and a guide to the previous season. Easily stuck in a jacket pocket, these little green guides were football bibles and were carried everywhere by supporters.
