Washington D.C. 1882 Dansville NY Sept. 2 Dear Dr. Wayland, I have striven very hard to make a better compliance with your suggestion and send you strips of my “paper” by the 1st of the month. But- such an over press of work of many kinds crowded all at once, that I have found it impossible to do better than to post some printed slips of an abstract to Mr. Sanborn at Saratoga today, which will be there tomorrow, waiting for Monday morning. I hope to be there myself by Monday evening. Mr. Heuston Genl Ast of the N.Y. Asso Press wrote four copies. I send some to him & I inform you, thinking it may be a help to you in the circulation of yours if, indeed you find them worth the trouble of circulating. I greatly regret that the little time I have had to devote to the preparation of my paper will so seriously detract from its interest. Hoping to see you soon I remain dear Dr. heartily but Truly Yours Clara Barton
