Dear Sir,
I am specially interested in the preliminary specifications for a new Hospital for Women at Leeds. The Hospital is to consist of a Gynaecological Department (50 beds) & a Maternity Department (16 beds). We find your work on “Hospital Construction” most useful. Will you allow me to ask your opinion on the following points?
We instruct our Architect that the two departments have to be as much isolated as possible; but it is obviously a matter of importance as financial economy to know whether any part of the administrative Section may be common to the two Departments. Do you think that

it would be permissible to allow:-
1. a common kitchen
2. A common Dining Room for Nurses
3. The nurses to sleep in a dormitory Section common to both Gynaecological Obstetric Nurses
4. Common table for the House Surgeons etc
Of course the patients will be absolutely isolated & everything connected with them. The Laundry will be separate; but it be not necessary to duplicate the whole administrative department, it will obviously be a saving in first cost & in maintenance.

With apologies for troubling you.
