The four vassals of the Yanagawa domain were appointed the post of bugyo (magistrate) in charge of finance by the 2nd Lord Tadashige. They managed land taxes, loans, and transport control of rice. Their position was later called ‘roju (senior councilor)’ and became the core position of the domain.
This letter was sent from the first Lord Muneshige to the 2nd Lord Tadashige, approving Tadashige’s personnel management.
