Typed letter from the Home Office sent on behalf of the Home Secretary to Lady Constance Lytton. It refers to a letter Constance previously sent to the Prime Minister regarding the imprisonment of Flora Drummond & Sylvia Pankhurst. Dated 1st July 1914 and signed by 'S.W. Harris' it notes 'Mr McKenna wishes me to say in reply that, if Miss Pankhurst or Mrs Drummond will give him an undertaking to refrain in future from illegal acts and incitement to crime, he will be prepared to advise the remission of the remainder of the sentence passed on them retrospectively'.
