Letter addressed to Edith How Martyn signed 'E.S.' Dated Saturday January 25th 1908 the letter is typed on notepaper headed with the address 10 Barons Court Road, West Kensington. The letter, sent by a supportive male Member of Parliament reads:
'Sending a ticket of admission to the Royal Gallery of the House of Lords. It will admit one person, who will have no difficulty in handing her petition to the King. All I ask is that you will say to the Press, if they ask you how you got the ticket, that it was given you by a friendly M.P. mention no name. I hope you will be successful. I have tried to get another ticket but without success. I would suggest that you choose to do this thing some woman of gentle and refined appearance as well as intrepepidity of spirit as such would receive more favour in the eyes of His Majesty. Why not your sweet self?'
