Frick 7200 Penn Avenue Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Dear Miss Frick: This morning Miss Manning told me that you would like to be informed about new developments in the work of our Committee. We, of course, are most anxious to keep you so informed and I am, therefore, writing you about a recent development. The Civil Affairs Division of the War Department prepares handbooks and special studies of different countries that may come under military occupation. They have completed most of their studies on Italy and are planning to use many of the maps we have prepared in the section devoted to the study of cultural material. These pamphlets are not produced for public consump­tion, but are for a limited number of military officers. They are produced by a photo-offset process and only a few hundred copies are printed. We have also been requested to write a brief introduction for this supplement and to arrange all the material. Naturally, we are extremely pleased with this develop­ment, as it proves that the government approves of the work we have been doing and is interested in seeing that this type of information reaches a larger number of Army officers than would be possible if only our few copies were in circulation. The re­quest to prepare this material reached me only this morning and we are already at work on it. Miss Manning informs me that you expect to be in New York next Thursday. Unfortunately, I must be in New Haven on that day at the request of President Seymour for some important meetings. Mr. Dinsmoor will also be away, as we were finally able to let him to take this week off as a much needed brief va­cation. I shall look forward, though, to the chance of seeing you next week.
