AMERICAN COUNCIL OF LEARNED SOCIETIES MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF ACADEMIES EXECUTIVE OFFICES 1219 SIXTEENTH STREET, N. W. WASHINGTON, D. C. (Zone 6) August 28, 1943 My dear Miss Frick, On behalf of the American Council of Learned Societies, I wish to express the gratitude of this organization for the extraordinarily effective and helpful cooperation that you are extending to its Committee on the Protection of Cultural Treasures in War Areas, through placing the resources and services of the Frick Art Reference Library at its disposal. I had the pleasure yesterday of visiting the Library, of seeing the work that is going on there, and of discussing the problems of the Committee with Mr. Dinsmoor and Mr. Crosby. I am convinced that through your cooperation the scholars of the country are able to perform a service of the utmost importance. I shall make a special report on these activities to our Executive Committee at its next meeting, and it will doubtless desire to express in more formal fashion the gratitude of the Council. Most sincerely yours, Waldo G. Leland, Director Miss Helen C. Frick, Director Frick Art Reference Library 10 East 7lst Street, New York, N. Y.
