View of Libby Prison, once used by the Confederate Army to hold Union prisoners of war, after its surrender to the Union Army. The brick building, the lower half of which is painted white, sits along the James River. Crowds of men and women stand in the dirt yard and crowd around one of the entrances. Tents are visible in the yard on both sides of the image.
