This lidded basket with a top loop represents a common form of mid- to late- 20th-century Cherokee plaited wicker basketry. Natural colored (orange) and dyed brown honeysuckle wicker weft elements are plaited over white oak or maple wood splints. Notable on this piece are the oblique rim bindings and the decorative wickerwork on the body walls of the piece.
