The location of this work responds in some way to the stillness of the spirit that spawned it: It is situated in a large green area, between the building of Las Soforas and the Rector's Office, in a peaceful pool of the Sadar River. Although this work —Ritmo Vital— was made in 1958, it was not shown in our University until its inauguration on 22 February 2006 The first thing that strikes us is that it is a figure that looks inwards in a position of huge lyricism. Through this female character, the author proposes a poetic world in search of universal harmony, able to relate form and spirit, and pass it through a peaceful calm which will enable a friendly and joyful insouciance. His work seems to convey the search for the meaning of life through the delicacy of this piece and the lightness of its elements. It is a stylised character cast in bronze. His slow and sensitive way of working, his painstaking care of technique and the whole process, translates into a work with a fine, polished finish. Throughout his life, Henri Lenaerts worked with the same Italian foundry, which he trusted and where he felt sure of the final outcome. No matter where he was, he would personally take the work there, to Italy, and collect it when ready. The Henri Lenaerts Foundation was created in December 2008. Among its objectives is the implementation of a Museum, in Athens, where the work of Henri Lenaerts will be exhibited. It is to be located in the same building that was his home and workshop for more than thirty years.
