List of the crew members of the armada sent to discover the Spice Islands who were deceased, deserters, or left behind in the Maluku Islands.
The list is a collection of the names of 103 individuals in chronological order of death or other type of incident, from December 20, 1519 when the first death occurred (execution of Antón Salamón, master of the Victoria), until July 14, 1522 (death of sailor Esteban Bretón).
The list ends with the names of those who stayed behind in the sultanate of Brunei, on July 29, 1521, and with the four crew members who remained in Tidore (Maluku Islands) to learn "of the dealings of the trading lands" and to guard certain merchants of the Crown who stayed there: Juan de Campos, scribe of the Trinidad, and three soldiers.
The dates and circumstances of each death or event of another nature are noted. In total, 92 deaths, four desertions, three abandonments in Brunei, and four people who stayed to run a commercial outpost in Tidore are counted.
