The living room of the New York city townhouse apartment of Atlantic Recording Corporation president Ahmet Ertegun and his wife, socialite Mica Ertegun. Persian rugs cover the parquet floor. The left wall is divided by a curved staircase, and in the foreground next to it is Ellsworth Kelly's 1959 painting "York". Below it is a white sofa and a pair of armless chairs, upholstered in patterned white fabric, surrounding a glass table with an ostrich shell centerpiece. Between the sofa and staircase is a small table with a candlestick in a blown glass enclosure. In the immediate foreground, a backgammon set sits atop a wooden desk with a carved wooden chair. On the right wall is Jack Youngerman's 1967 painting "August White. On the far side of the staircase is Rene Magritte's 1954 painting "L'Empire des Lumieres".
