“Cassa di Risparmio” is the oldest and most important bank in Parma, founded by Duchess Mary Louise of Austria and expression of the complex and heterogeneous context of a town of both agricultural and industrial traditions. Although boasting an ancient origin, the institute still didn’t have a corporate identity. When Franco Maria Ricci was commissioned to design a new logo, he decided to replace the bee then in use with a stylized beehive, inscribed in a square: the reference to bees, thrift and savings remained and a metaphor was added, since the beehive resembles a dome symbolizing the urban space. The result is a unitary, effective, modern logo.
