This lotus mandala once enclosed the meditational deity Hevajra and his consort Nairatmya, since substituted with a later sculpture. The dancing yoginis of their retinue are depicted on the inside of the eight petals. Of particular interest in this piece is the depiction of the eight charnel grounds on the outside of those same petals, emphasizing the liminal nature of these grounds.
