In the summer of 2019, I had the opportunity to spend time at the Experimental Lakes Area (ELA), a natural laboratory of 58 lakes set aside for scientific research. I was one of five artists invited to Northwestern Ontario to engage with scientific research, learn more about the type of work done at ELA and find inspiration for my own practice.

Slow photography such as cyanotype, lumen and pinhole photography use time and naturally occurring UV light to record images. While at ELA, I exposed a series of lumen prints of some of the flora found on-site. The prints were exposed for 2.5 to three hours on the shore of Lake 240. I bound the lumen photography prints into an accordion folded flag style book.
