Harry V. Burns, NAACP State Youth Director, helped organize a campaign against discrimination and other Black leaders followed suit. Reverends Claude Black and S.H. James mobilized their congregations to attend the NAACP rally. The community decided to begin sit-ins on March 17th if the stores did not integrate.
