Tom says: "With this portrait I wanted to see behind the PPE and catch a personal moment BETWEEN the lifesaving efforts, to capture a moment of reflection. Madhavi and her husband were recently married. But isolating, to enable her to work on NHS Covid wards, resulted in them having to live apart. So, as well as being my 'muse' for this portrait, we also find her musing on that separation. An outward look through an unseen window whilst catching her breath. A moment away from the windowless ward and missing the outside world. A moment to think about isolation and missing her new husband. (Madhavi asked for it to be sent to partner Parmesh as a gift in her absence)."
Madhavi says: "Wow, it's exquisite....I can't wait for my husband to see it!...Thank you so much for doing this and taking the time and effort to paint me. It is one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me, and something I will cherish for years to come. When all this is over, I hope we can meet one day and I can buy you a cuppa"
