Raphael1505 - 1506

Uffizi Gallery

Uffizi Gallery
Florence, Italy

Giorgio Vasari writes that Raphael painted this panel for his friend Lorenzo Nasi, a florentine merchant, on the occasion of his marriage to Sandra Canigiani. Significantly damaged by the collapse of the Nasi house from a landslide on Costa a San Giorgio in 1547, it was restored by a Florentine artist, perhaps Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio. The painting was exhibited in the Tribuna in 1704.
