MAESTRAPEACE, Lapidge Street façade, mural on The San Francisco Women's Building, 18th and Valencia Street

Facade of four-story, symmetrical white stucco building covered with vibrant mural celebrating women from various cultural and ethnic groups and across time. The top half of the mural consists of a central figure, Rigoberta Menchu (Guatemalan Nobel Peace Prize winner) with outstretched hands holding up two human figures, Yemayah (a Yoruba goddess) surrounded by water, and Coyolxauhqui (an Aztec goddess) emerging from Maguey cactus leaves. Rigoberta Menchu is flanked by the faces of two women in profile facing the center. Bottom half of the mural consists of vibrant vibrant ribbons of color surrounding female artists, political activists, healers, and deities from around the world and other symbolic imagery, such as plants and birds.
