This thangka divided into three parts. In the middle of upper part Maitreya is shown seated inside a palace and flanked by Atisa and Tsong-kha-pa. It is because that the dGe-lugs-pas believed that Atisa and Tsong-kha-pa were reborn in Tusita Heaven, where they continue to attend on Maitreya.
Meanwhile, in the centre of the middle section Maitreya, sitting on a chair, is shown receiving one of the faithful reborn in Tusita Heaven by placing his hand on the latter's head. Finally, the lowermost section shows a Yellow Hat lama in the world of human suffering being guided to rebirth in Tusita Heaven by a rainbow-colored ray of light. This thanngka is a valuable illustration of the Maitreya cult in the dGe-lugs-pa school.
