Mam Tor, also known as Shivering Mountain, is a hill near Castleton in the Derbyshire Peak District. The name Mam Tor means 'mother hill', and the hill may be so named because of the many landslips on its eastern face that have created mini hills underneath. The landslip area is clearly visible in this photograph.

On the top of the hill was a large late Bronze Age / early Iron Age hill fort, and two Bronze Age bowl barrows. It was occupied from around 1200 BCE.
